Photographer Cameron Grayson has spent a majority of his career based in New York and is currently based in Australia. He was born and raised on the west coast of Victoria, Australia, and discovered his passion for photography after studying Graphic Design at Swinburne University. Forwarding in study with a B.A. at the Royal Institute of Technology in Photography he began to apprentice himself through the ranks of Australian and English photographers.
During his final year at R.M.I.T, he was chosen to represent Australia in an international photographic competition held by BMW Munich. Written up in BMW magazine as the next generation of rising international photographers, Grayson won the competition against seven of the world's best photographic colleges. Richard Avedon, Michel Comte, Anton Corbjin and Bettina Rehiems judged this competition.
As a result of the BMW prizes, Grayson found himself in New York where he furthered his studies at Parsons School of Design and continued apprenticing himself through the ranks of New York photographers. Assisting the likes of Steven Klein, François Nars, Cedric Buchet, Jan Welters, Kayt Jones and finishing with legendary photographer Max Vadukul as his first assistant for a number of years. It also provided Grayson invaluable experience with other industry legends such as stylists Nicolletta Santoro, Brana Wolf, hair stylists Guido, Ward Stegerhoek and Didier Malige. During that time he also found himself assisting Director Tony Kay in stills work on his commercials.
Grayson gained his first New York agent at the age 28 and has been published in endless magazines such as Seventeen magazine USA, Conde Nast Traveler USA, BMW Germany, Vogue Australia, GQ Australia, Marie Claire Australia, Harpers Bazaar Australia, Grazia Australia and Sunday Magazine to name a few.
